Floating Laminate Flooring
Today it is more in demand and simple. This is not a version of the gluing version, but the joining of the panels with the help of a lock connection WITHOUT the use of glue.
The only thing you need to take care of in advance is the use of sealant for seams and pad locks.
This option is also considered very reliable. It can be safely used only in limited areas with a small patency of the premises.
Floating Laminate Flooring Installation
Today, three types of floating laminate floors are distinguished:
- Concrete floors;
- dry screeds;
- prefabricated coverings.
This technology is usually applied in case the required result is a very strong surface. This option is suitable for those rooms where it is expected to have quite large loads (warehouses, garages). Of course, this does not mean that it cannot be used in residential buildings. By the way, it is in everyday life that such a deck will last several decades.
During installation, the lamellas are laid on a concrete base, on which the waterproofing material is pre-laid. We also advise you to fix the edge insulating tape along the contour of the room, and pour the concrete screed with the metal grid over the lighthouses.
This will ensure good thermal conductivity of the top layer of the coating. Such circuits can be electrical or hydraulically filled.
What is engineered flooring? It is a floor made of sheet piling, engineered parquet and our laminate. After purchasing the necessary materials, we advise you to leave them for a day or two in packages in the room in which they will be installed.
All materials used must be laid on a perfectly flat base, which is pre-prepared using a spacer layer. These can be expanded polystyrene and cellulosic sheet variants or flexible polyethylene foam with a uniformly closed cell structure.
The insulation layer should be as thin as possible (2-5 mm). Its use minimizes all possible effects of moisture on the finish, so it is often used as a thin gasket. All the elements of the structure are connected together taking into account 10 mm clearance from the walls. If you don’t leave the gap, prepare to change the new flooring within a year.
Flat ground is the main requirement. The life of the entire structure depends on this. At the slightest irregularities, the “layered pie” will become unusable due to frequent deformations.
A dry screed creates a very solid foundation, which later is laminated. Over this screed very often mount collapsible floating floors. The advantage is that they also guarantee excellent heat and sound insulation properties.
For soundproofing, you can safely use mineral wool with the strongest noise reduction index. The thickness of mineral wool should be 20 mm (46.5 dB). For the purpose of thermal insulation, foam is used, since it is the one with the highest heat savings.
The floating laminate flooring installation method copes well with the problem of thermal conductivity and sound insulation. The main thing is its proper flooring.
Laying a laminate with chamfer: a hard or floating way?
If we talk about the method of laying a laminate with chamfer, then the optimal option is floating. In this all experts agree.
How to install?
- At a distance of 8-20 mm from the wall, start assembling the elements of the structure, using tongue and groove to the wall. This compensation gap should be observed throughout the perimeter of the room, because as the temperature increases, the flooring planks will expand, move apart and fill all the space left. Later the gap will be covered with a plinth;
It is better to use a plinth of the prefabricated structure.
- at the junction points, fix all the panels so that the seams remain more tight and the fastening secure. To distribute the load, all the ends of the floor boards must be displaced relative to each other by 30-50 cm;
- The presence of the bevel will carry a double meaning: design and practical. With a chamfer such troubles as the discrepancy of the planks and notable joints are not terrible. The four-sided deepening allows not only to quickly assemble the canvas, but it is also quite easy to disassemble it, in case of water spilling. You can dry the items and mount again. In this case, all joints remain neat.
